TRAINING PLAN MUDJIMBA SLSC 2025

Training

SKILLS MAINTENANCE DATES

  1. 3pm Friday 15 August 2025 (Bronze/SRC/FA/ART only)
  2. 8am Sunday 17 August 2025 (Bronze/SRC/FA/ART/IRBC/IRBD)
  3. 3pm Friday 19 September 2025 (Bronze/SRC/FA/ART only)
  4. 8am Saturday 20 September 2025 (Bronze/SRC/FA/ART/IRBC/IRBD)

BRONZE MEDALLION COURSES

  1. Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings: 25 June – 10 August 2025 (enrolment closed)
  2. Youth Camp Rainbow Beach: 28 September – 3 October 2025
  3. Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings: 15 November – 20 December 2025
  4. Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings: 29 March – 3 May 2025

Basic course prerequisites:

  • Be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Complete an unaided freestyle swim of 400 metres in nine (9) minutes or less, in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres. Pool swim must be observed by a qualified Training Officer Bronze Medallion, Assessor Bronze Medallion or ASCTA/AUSTSWIM Swim Coach.
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

SURF RESCUE CERTIFICATE COURSES 2025/26

  1. Youth Camp Rainbow Beach: 28 September – 3 October 2025
  2. Sunday mornings during Nippers: 12 October – 9 November 2025

Basic course prerequisites:

  • Be at least 13 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Complete an unaided freestyle swim of 200 metres in nine (9) minutes or less, in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres. Pool swim must be observed by a qualified Training Officer Bronze Medallion, Assessor Bronze Medallion or ASCTA/AUSTSWIM Swim Coach.
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

FIRST AID COURSE

  1. Wednesday evenings: 25 June and 9 July 2025 (enrolment closed)
  2. Youth Camp Rainbow Beach: 29 September – 3 October 2025
  3. Wednesday evenings: 19 and 26 November 2025
  4. Wednesday evenings: 25 March and 1 April 2026

Basic course prerequisites:

  • Be at least 14 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Enrolled in Bronze, SRC, Observer or Radio Operator course or hold one of those qualifications
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

ART (ADVANCED RESUS) course

  1. Wednesday evening: 16 July 2025 (enrolment closed)
  2. Wednesday evening: 3 December 2025
  3. Wednesday evening: 15 April 2026

Basic course prerequisites:

  • Be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Hold a current First Aid qualification (within last 3 years)
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

IRB CREW COURSE

  1. 3 December 2025 start date (subject to release of learning material by SLSQ)
  2. Additional dates to be confirmed.

Basic course prerequisites:

  • Be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Be currently proficient in Bronze Medallion
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

IRB DRIVER & JETSKI COURSE 2025/26

Powercraft courses are made available based on patrolling need but all members are encouraged to express their interest. Please email training@mudjimbasurf.com.au.

Basic course prerequisites for IRB Driver:

  • Be at least 16 years of age to commence training
  • Be at least 17 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Be currently proficient in Bronze Medallion
  • Be currently proficient in IRB Crewperson Certificate
  • Hold a current state marine licence
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

Basic course prerequisites for Rescue Water Craft:

  • Be at least 18 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Be currently proficient in Bronze Medallion
  • Hold a current state marine licence
  • Financial member of Mudjimba SLSC with current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption.

INDUCTIONS 2025/26

Various equipment inductions will be made available throughout the season as required. Please email training@mudjimbasurf.com.au to express your interest for inductions:

  • SSV (17+, Provisional or Open licence)
  • 4WD (17+, Provisional or Open licence)
  • Tractor (Open licence)
  • Shallow Water Rescue (Proficient Bronze Medallion)

SILVER MEDALLION PATROL CAPTAIN 2025/26

Patrol Captain courses are made available based on patrolling need but all members are encouraged to express their interest after discussing with the Club Captain. Please email training@mudjimbasurf.com.au.

 

TIME COMMITMENT AND PRE-LEARNING

Please note that all of our Trainers, Assessors and Subject Matter Experts are volunteers and respect their time by making sure you are prepared to participate in all aspects of your course. SLSQ has moved to a blended learning approach to training and this means that you must complete pre-learning for all courses before attending the practical sessions.

 

BECOME A TRAINER, ASSESSOR, ENDORSED DELEGATE OR SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT

If you have knowledge to share and want to give back to Mudjimba SLSC then becoming a Trainer, Assessor, Endorsed Delegate or Subject Matter Expert is a great way to make the most of your volunteering time! Please email training@mudjimbasurf.com.au to discuss the various options.

Surf Sports Training Sessions

Mudjimba SLSC offers our members a number of FREE Surf Sports Training Sessions to help improve your water and sand skills. These sessions are always free and will be run by a qualified Mudjimba SLSC Surf Sports Coach.

To participate in a Mudjimba SLSC Surf Sports Training Session you will need to be a financial member of Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club, have a current SRC or Bronze Medallion and have signed a Mudjimba SLSC training Attendance Sign-on sheet before commencing training. There are also additional requirements for IRB racing.

Only financial members with a current SRC or Bronze Medallion participating in a Club-endorsed Surf Sports Training Session are covered by Mudjimba SLSC insurance. Look out on our social media (Facebook/WhatsApp/Instagram/etc) for details of specific Club-endorsed training sessions each week as these sometimes need to change to accommodate weather/surf conditions.
